Yay, Techcrunch wrote about us

Big thanks to Julia French, a prominent and dynamic member of the Bay Area ‘Aussie startup mafia’, who landed us a write-up of our Silicon Valley tour, which appeared in Techcrunch today. You never quite know which way a Techcrunch writers is going to go with a story angle and it’s great to see them cover the tour in a positive light.

But who wouldn’t? We’re just ‘A Large Group Of Friendly Aussies’ — that’s how we introduce yourselves with a smile, every time we try to get a table for 15 people without a reservation on a busy night. So far, it’s working pretty well.

The days  when Techcrunch exposure could cripple your web hosting provider with the sheer volume of new users are mostly gone (web hosts have gotten better at scalability and Techcrunch readers have matured beyond signing up for every new business that they read about) but Techcrunch enjoys significant cred in the startup community and the investors who back them, and the tweets, likes and diggs that follow-on from a mention have additional value too.

Like what you’ve read about us? If you’re in town, Julia French and a founding member of the Aussie Startup Mafia, Martin Wells, are hosting a panel event with our startups in San Francisco from 7pm this Monday at Pier 38. But now we’ve been mentioned in Techcrunch you’ll need to hurry to get a ticket.
